Nanning Haoyouyuan State Banquet

Inspired by the iconic Fallingwater villa, the entrance facade of the Nanning Haoyouyuan State Banquet restaurant features a modern oriental silhouette, complemented by a stainless steel structure and a large glass curtain wall that reflects in the pool. This design element sets the tone for a tranquil and sophisticated ambiance, allowing guests to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

The color palette of the space revolves around black, white, and bronze gold, with accents of wood finish materials. This combination creates a simple yet elegant aesthetic throughout the entire restaurant.

One of the unique features of this design is its spatial layout, which draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese three-in-one courtyard system. Liu Haodong deconstructs and reorganizes this concept, creating a layered and semi-enclosed space. The use of modern large curved surfaces and metal grids divides the space, providing visual separation without compromising the natural transition between internal and external areas. This design approach adds a sense of ceremony to the dining experience.

The Nanning Haoyouyuan State Banquet restaurant is a testament to the designer's creativity and attention to detail. The project was realized using a combination of black, white, and bronze gold tones, along with wood finish materials, resulting in a space that exudes simplicity and elegance.

Located in Nanning City, China, the design project for the Nanning Haoyouyuan State Banquet restaurant was completed between January 2019 and November 2019. Throughout the process, the design team, including Guo Xin, Liu Bo, and Zi Yan, overcame various challenges, such as aligning the client's aesthetic preferences, balancing functionality with decorative effects, and working within the limitations of a large-scale hotel catering establishment.

The Nanning Haoyouyuan State Banquet restaurant design by Liu Haodong has been recognized for its excellence. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges the design's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to an improved quality of life.
